Arsenal told to focus on Swedish £ 60million ace ahead of possible Everton transfer deal – Chris Davison

Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic and Arsenal ties have confirmed in many ways that the club are looking to add a striker to their squad. It is also necessary …

The Africa Cup of Nations will mean Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will leave for the competition in January. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both play their final years under contract in the Emirates.

This leaves the strike force options for Mikel Arteta very limited and fans have started discussing who they would choose to be their new main striker.

Arsenal Way presenter and writer Bailey Keogh (BK) spoke with social producer Umar Choudhry (UC) and editor Chris Davidson (CD) on Wednesday morning. Arsenal analysis show and talked about a certain Swedish talent …

UC: “I’ve been on the Isak train since we launched this YouTube channel. Alexandre Isak, it’s simple. I was not interested in Dusan Vlahovic, yes he played brilliantly for Fiorentina this season and even last season.

“He had a goal scoring record, in terms of the number of goals. But, I want to see a different kind of attacker. I think Isak is an attacker in this group who can level up. I think he has that overall ability, that he’s strong and aggressive.

“He’s a good and fast dribbler. We have to target players like that. With Dusan Vlahovic’s ties, the club have in mind that they need a striker and that’s good. Obviously, the future of Nketia is in place in the end.

“I think Lacazette will go to Aubamey and reach this age where he is in decline. Now the plans are laid out by Richard Garlick and Edu that we need a striker for our new position.

“So I wouldn’t pay sixty, seventy million pounds to Serbian Vlahovic. I’d pay around that for Isak. I think he’s the kind of attacker who can explode now. He’s also the right age group, which I like.

“He’s young and played in big international tournaments for Sweden and he performed well. So if you give me a striker who’s a straight shooter like Ollie Watkins or Dominic Calvert-Lewin – it’s Isak for me 100%.

BK: “Do you think he will struggle because he’s never played in the Premier League before?

CD: “I think we have to accept that we can target a high profile player in another league, anyone you can get is more likely to have a hard time when they first arrive. It’s a completely different league from the Premier League and a completely different test.

“They have to get used to their new surroundings and adapt to the style. So you are going to get it with any signature. But, I have to admit that I am a huge fan of Isak. He’s a great talent and I also like the look of Youssef En-Nesyri, in Seville.

“I think he recently had a minor injury and was out for a little while. I don’t know how it’s a series. But, when you look at Aston Villa’s situation up to the minute and he’s a childhood Arsenal fan, someone like Ollie Watkins might also be a good shout.

“He has that experience in the Premier League, which is of course a big bonus. I know there have been reports that Arsenal are not here for Vlahovic and that they are looking for potential options from the start, without going into the summer.

“I don’t think we can rule out any movement coming in January. Something only has to happen to Nketiah leaves us very short. They are both coming to the end of their contracts now.

“So this is something to keep an eye on and look to strengthen our attacking options. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is another loud cry. But, with his recent injury issues, we’ll have to wait and see, there are a lot of options out there, it must be a priority for us to move forward.
