Following early leaks of dashboards and retail listings, Koei Tecmo officially announced Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream, slated for release for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam). The game is scheduled for release on February 24, 2022 in Japan and February 25, 2022 in North America and Europe, marking the series’ first simultaneous global release.
Atelier Sophie 2 takes place after 2016 Sophie workshop, seemingly fitting into the midst of the existing mysterious game trilogy that also includes Firis Workshop and Atelier Lydie & Suelle. The game features smooth transitions in and out of fights, a first for the series, as well as six-member fight groups.

Today, Koei Tecmo America and developer Gust Studios announced a new chapter in their Heartwarming Workshop series: Atelier Sophie 2: The Mysterious Dream Alchemist. The latest entry in the series follows beloved alchemist Sophie Neuenmuller shortly after her adventures in 2016’s Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist from the Mysterious Book. The new title is currently in development for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 Computer Entertainment System, and Windows PC via Steam, and is slated for release in North America on February 25, 2022.
Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream continues the story of the many adventures of Sophie and Plachta. After leaving Kirchen Bell, Sophie’s hometown, the couple discover a huge tree identical to the one Plachta had seen in a dream, and as they get closer, a mysterious vortex draws them inside. Sophie wakes up alone in a curious new world called Erde Wiege, and it doesn’t take long before she hears about an alchemist named Plachta who lives on the outskirts of town. Surprisingly, when Sophie arrives at the workshop, she meets a young alchemy enthusiast named Plachta, and even though the alchemist has the same name as her friend, she does not recognize Sophie. What other surprises await Sophie on this trip? As the adventure continues, Sophie meets the budding alchemist, Ramizel Erlenmeyer, who readily agrees to help her when needed. The narrative unfolds elegantly with a charming new visual style that combines the art of the Mysterious sub-series with the high-quality graphics and animation featured in Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy 2021.
In her journey to find her missing friend, Sophie will have to fight the many monsters that inhabit the lands of Erde Wiege. As soon as players encounter an enemy in the field, the battle begins instantly with no load times or separate screens – a series first – allowing battles to unfold seamlessly. Additionally, Battle Groups now consist of six members, including three in the front and three in the rear, to form two teams that cooperate in multi-linked turn-based battles. This new combat system unlocks a wide range of exciting combat strategies that players can use to take down their enemies.
As with previous entries in the Atelier series, alchemy plays a huge role in Atelier Sophie 2: The Mysterious Dream Alchemist. The game relies on the panel synthesis system featured in the Mysterious sub-series, where materials are placed into slots in the panel to create new items. The game allows budding alchemists and veterans to synthesize items in a way that is comfortable for them through two different types of panels – regular panels make it easier to create items, while restricted panels are complex to master but allow you to use objects with more powerful effects. be synthesized.
