BYD India marks entry into Indian PV space with Atto 3

BYD India marked its official entry into the Indian PV market on Tuesday by unveiling the Atto 3 e-SUV. The company has started bookings for the vehicle for INR 50,000 with the intention of delivering the first 500 units in January 2023.

Customers booking the vehicle now can benefit from the promotional pack, which includes a 7kW charger with home installation, a 3kW portable charger, three years of free 4G service subscriptions, six years of support road and six times free maintenance.

BYD India aims to sell 15,000 units of the newly unveiled Atto 3 by the end of next year and plans to set up a local manufacturing plant for the vehicle during the same period, said said Ketsu Zhang, executive director of BYD India.

Based on the company’s e3 EV platform, the e-SUV features a 60.48 kWh Blade battery and a 150 kW 310 Nm PMSM motor. certified ARAI of 521 km.

Notably, the platform includes an 8-in-1 electric powertrain with a drive motor, motor controller, gear reducer, on-board charger, DC converter, high-voltage distribution box, vehicle controller and a battery management system integrated into a single unit.

BYD India claims this has resulted in a 20% size reduction and 15% weight reduction with an overall efficiency of over 89%.

Measuring 4,455mm long with a 2,720mm wheelbase, 1,875mm wide and 1,616mm high, the Atto 3 features the company’s latest Dragon Face 3.0 and has a drag coefficient of 0.29. CD.

On the outside, the Atto 3 features a crystal LED combination headlight and one-piece LED taillight strip along with 18-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the EV comes with a 12.8-inch adaptive rotary suspension electronic cushion, panoramic sunroof, holographic transparent imaging system, NFC card key, eight-speaker audio system speakers and power seat adjustment, among other features. Additionally, the Atto 3 also comes with V2L, which supports output power up to 3.3 kW.

In terms of safety, the new electric vehicle comes with BYD Dipilot ADAS L-2 capabilities such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, door opening warning, warning and lane departure prevention as well as adaptive front lighting and seven airbags.

Available in Surf Blue, Parkour Red, Boulder Gray and Ski White tones, the e-SUV comes with a standard warranty of six years or 1.5 lakh km, while the battery and motor with motor controller benefit from a standard eight-year warranty. .

Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, SVP, BYD India, noted that the company has invested $200 million in the Indian operation since 2007 and has set up two factories spread over 140,000 sqm, employing 3,000 people.
