CD Projekt RED has released an official modding tool for Cyberpunk 2077.
Released as “DLC” for the game, it will not only allow you to use, modify and create experiences, but will add built-in support for installing and loading mods into the game.
This means that you will be able to create custom sounds, animations, scripts, etc.
REDmod is a command line app that will apply and remove compatible mods, as well as check for conflicts, and it has a friendly user interface that will have an on/off toggle for all installed compatible mods, as well as launch the game.
CDPR promises that it will be continuously updated with game patches to ensure compatibility and has guaranteed that current mods will still work with the tool.
New mods will require a specific format to be compatible, and while current mods using the old format will still work, they will not appear in the REDmod menu.
“The only change to consider when modifying your game is whether the mods you add are REDmod compatible or not – if they are then they will create their mod entries with toggles in the REDmod/ REDlauncher,” NexusMods said. “If not, they will still work fine when installed via Vortex or manually, but they won’t show up when using the new REDmod/REDlauncher.
If you’re a Cyberpunk 2077 modder, you’ll want to read up on how it all works via the Cyberpunk modding support page, or click the NexusMod link above.
You can download REDmod, which is an optional DLC, via Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store or via the Cyberpunk modding page.
