  • Derek Jeter recently joined the Knuckleheads Podcast for an interview
  • The podcast is hosted by former NBA players Quentin Richarson and Darius Miles
  • Jeter answers a ton of great questions, one of them being, “Who would win at golf between you and Michael Jordan?”

Last week, Deter Jeter spoke with the Knuckleheads Podcasthosted by former NBA players Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles.

A quick refresher on the hosts, Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles were actually teammates with the Clippers in the 2000-2001 NBA season. They earned the duo nickname as the “Knuckleheads” thanks to their signature celebration where each double tapped their heads with their fists in a ball.

Now they have their podcast show hosted by The players’ stand. What’s cool about the show is that they interview people from the basketball world, young and old, as well as people outside the game.

Richardson and Miles recently sat down with Derek Jeter for a recent episode.

Derek Jeter on Who would win at golf between him or Michael Jordan

This interview has tons of great Captain Yankee stories. Richardson and Miles ask Jeter everything from what it was like to play in his first World Series to being signed by the Jordan brand.

They also have Jeter answer some awesome, out-of-the-box questions. One question I liked was who would win in a golf match between him and Michael Jordan.

The funny thing is that Jeter basically admits that Jordan would win, but he does it without saying “no.”

The great thing about golf is what they call “handicaps”: the worse you are, the more strokes you get. It evens things out. You know, I started playing golf when I retired, and then I haven’t played much for the past four years. Besides, I have two daughters, so I don’t need to go golf. He (Jordan) has been playing all his life.

Jeter’s first big purchase as a pro ball player

Another big question posed to Jeter was what was his first big purchase. Jeter reveals it was a Mitsubishi 3000 when he was 18.

Here’s an awesome quote about what Jeter played on the CD player when he got the car.

The first thing I bought? A Mitsubishi 3000. I was 18 after freshman year. I put a Tony Terry CD in there – it was the first CD I played there.

Jeter’s 5 Favorite Baseball Players Growing Up

We all like to know who professional athletes looked up to growing up. Here’s Jeter answering a question to his 5 favorite baseball players. The first is Dave Winfield.

To give you an easy list here are the 5 names mentioned in order:

  1. David Winfield
  2. Cal Ripken Jr.
  3. Ozzie Smith
  4. Alan Trammel
  5. Barry Larkins

Winfield was Jeter’s favorite as he grew up a Yankees fan and Winfield was one of the best players on the team during this time (if not the best).

Jeter said he’s watched a lot of shortstops, which is why the others are all in that position. The last two mentioned – Alan Trammell and Barry Larkin – had ties to Michigan, the state where Jeter grew up.

You can watch the full interview below. It lasts about an hour and a half, perfect for listening during the work day or on a road trip.

Leave it to the captain to give us great baseball content while we wait for the lockdown to end.
