From metal heads and headbands to classic rock and all the artists in between, Steve Pape and his daughter, Livvy, are turning their love for music into a new venture providing local music fans with modern clothes and gifts.
Last month, Pope and his daughter opened Livvy Rocks and the Band T-Shirt Guy at the mall located at 8601 Turin Road. Inside, music fans can find a wide range of artists – from classic to modern – including Kiss, Nirvana, Metallica, Alice in Chains, The Clash, Guns N ‘Roses, The Grateful Dead and The Doors, for to name a few.
When asked if he was a musician – “I’m an amateur hobbyist,” Pape said with a laugh.
The store owner once owned a music CD store on West Dominick Street, which now houses The Copper Easel next to the Capitol Theater, from 1996 to 2001.
Since the store closed, Pape has continued to sell group t-shirts and novelty items in flea markets, as well as novelty and second-hand toys as his daughter grew up.
Livvy Rocks and the Band T-Shirt Guy offers short and long sleeve shirts, zip up pullovers and hoodies, winter hats, backpacks, mittens, shopping bags featuring different artists, cups and books on bands and musicians.
As for obscure artists, “I’ve got everything from ‘Oh my God I haven’t seen them in classic rock for a very long time’, to the very latest stuff that just came out a few months ago,” described Pope about his merchandise. . “Metallica has been our biggest seller, and our Grateful Dead Liquid Blue T-shirts – everyone loves them, especially during the summer. “
The store doesn’t sell recordings “yet” but the owner said it was “still a possibility” down the road.
The hours of operation for Livvy Rocks and T-shirt Guy are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
