It seems we haven’t heard from Marantz in a while, but the company has now launched a new CD player at the High End Show in Munich. The CD 60 is a high performance CD player, designed to deliver excellent sound quality through advanced circuitry and the use of premium components. The CD 60 also has a striking industrial design and the kind of solid build quality that Marantz is known for.
“With so much attention devoted to the vinyl market and the popularity of streaming content, we sometimes forget that an entire generation of music lovers has built significant collections of beloved compact discs,” said Joel Sietsema, President of the Marantz brand. “Marantz was present at the dawn of CD technology with our original player, the CD 63. Today, the CD 60 reminds us why we fell in love with the format 40 years ago – offering more warmth, musicality and detail than any player in its class.
The new CD 60 is made with modern materials and has a striking design that matches the existing range of Marantz amplifiers. The CD 60 is the ideal companion for the new MODEL 40n Integrated Stereo Amplifier.

Marantz was involved in the development of the CD format when it was part of Philips. The CD 60 uses the latest HDAM amplifier modules, an exclusive Marantz technology used in the analog output stage.
The new HDAMs (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules) are superior in their overall response to commercially available amplifier chip modules found in many other products. These modules have been further optimized for the CD 60 to flow current more accurately, resulting in lower levels of distortion at high frequencies.
In addition to excellent CD playback quality, the CD 60 also offers the convenience of a front panel USB-A port, allowing playback of a wide range of digital files such as MP3, WMA, AAC and WAV, FLAC HD, ALAC, AIFF (up to 192kHz/24bit) and DSD (up to 5.6MHz) from an attached USB storage device.

The CD 60 features a new industry-leading D/A converter (up to 192 kHz/24-bit and DSD 5.6 MHz) providing clarity across all frequency ranges. A unique advantage of the CD 60 DAC is the ability to choose between two filter options. Filter 1 provides smooth attenuation while Filter 2 provides sharper attenuation for more accurate imaging.
The CD 60 also features the exclusive Marantz HDAM-SA2 high-performance headphone amp circuit with three gain settings (Low/Mid/High) for a perfect match with almost any headphone. The headphone amplifier can also be disabled when not in use, eliminating any potential interference.
Price and availability: The Marantz CD 60 player will be available from June and will retail for €899 / £749 from authorized Marantz retailers.
