On The manual

The Medicaid Provider Electronic Handbook contains coverage, billing, and reimbursement policies for Medicaid, Healthy Michigan Plan, Children’s Special Health Care Services, Maternity Outpatient Medical Services (MOMS), and other health care programs administered by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).

Although MDHHS will continue to issue paper policy bulletins as needed, paper manuals are not provided. The online version of the manual is updated quarterly to incorporate all policies communicated through policy bulletins since the last update of the manual.

If you would like to receive a CD version of the Medicaid Provider Manual, you will need to submit a request to MDHHS. You will receive the current published version of the manual which is available at that time. The request should include the name and address of the business/facility, National Supplier Identifier (NPI) (if applicable), telephone number and name of a contact person. You can submit the application by mail, fax, or e-mail to one of the following:

Suppliers using the CD should retain all newsletters received throughout the year for use in addition to the CD.

To enable bookmarks in Internet Explorer:

  1. Open Acrobat

  2. Go to Edit >> Preferences >> Internet

  3. Uncheck Allow Quick Web View

Now open the PDF in IE and all bookmarks are available.

For Microsoft Edge, enable Adobe Flash Player.

  2. Click on the three dots symbol which is located in the upper right corner of the browser and click on Settings.

  3. Click Show advanced settings.

  4. Activate Adobe Flash Player.

Printing of the manual

MDHHS recommends against printing the manual due to cost and loss of functionality (eg, searchability). However, if you decide to print, it is suggested that you limit the print to only those chapters relevant to your practice or interests, and print it in black and white.
