New York “Moving Mountains” to vaccinate all residents

Governor Hochul says his administration is “moving mountains” to get New Yorkers vaccinated.

Governor Kathy Hochul briefed New Yorkers on the state’s progress in the fight against COVID-19 on Tuesday. Hochul confirmed that 83.8% of all New Yorkers 18 and older received at least one vaccine while 75.2% completed their vaccine series. 71% of all eligible New Yorkers have at least one dose of the vaccine.

“New Yorkers are still infected with COVID-19 every day, and the key to ending this pandemic for good is to increase our vaccination rate,” Governor Hochul said. “We are moving mountains to get our communities vaccinated, especially those with low vaccination rates, and for the 12 to 17 age group. However, every eligible New Yorker should get vaccinated, and that is. this is how we will restore our state economy to full strength and build prosperity for all

Hochul reported that 31 more New Yorkers have died from COVID, bringing the total number of reported COVID deaths in New York City to 56,674. 241 New Yorkers have been admitted to hospital. 2,363 New Yorkers are currently hospitalized for COVID, including 568 in intensive care and 311 in intensive care with intubation.

She announced that 3.05% of all tests came back positive in the previous 24 hours. The 7-day positivity rate is also 2.65%.

The Hudson Valley’s seven-day COVID positivity rate remains higher than the state. The positivity rate for the Mid-Hudson region is 2.76%. The North Country has the highest COVID positivity rate in New York at 5.50%.
