Skills and requirements

Azavea operations engineers are members of the engineering team and are primarily responsible for the availability, performance and profitability of our production infrastructure. Efficient software delivery is a responsibility shared by the entire engineering team, but operations engineers focus on assembling and maintaining the infrastructure components that ensure that anyone can ship software with confidence. Often, they complement other engineers with a more in-depth knowledge of the components that make up our production infrastructure (internal systems, network, cloud computing). Additionally, they are responsible for setting the direction that determines how we build and deploy in production environments.

You will notice that we are not listing N years of experience or a computer science degree as requirements. Formal references like these are invaluable, but we are primarily looking for people who have had hands-on experience building sophisticated web applications. If you think this description fits you, even if your experience doesn’t quite match the technologies we’ve listed, we encourage you to apply. We do not use automated resume selection technology and our employees review all applications we receive.
